About Carol Nelson

carol nelson yoga instructorWelcome! I’m Carol Nelson, and I have been captivated by the magic of yoga since 1976 when I first met and studied with Mr. B.K.S. Iyengar. My 30+ years’ journey has taken me around the world studying and teaching. I founded one of Boston’s first yoga centers in 1977, the Creative Yoga Studio. “Creative” describes my method, an approach that embodies the simplicity and serenity of yoga.

You can read about me in Dan Wakefield’s book How Do We Know When It’s God? (Little, Brown, Co.) and Roanne Weisman’s book Own Your Health (Health Connections.) I am a featured model in two books published by Rodmell Press; Back Care Basics by Dr. Mary Pullig Schatz and Relax and Renew by Judith Lasater PhD., P.T. and contributed the yoga section to Margit Esser Porter’s book Hope Lives (h.ic. publishing.)

I continue to teach at the Shambhala Meditation Center of Boston, Majestic Yoga Studio in Cambridge, MA, and The Arlington Center; and I am yoga teacher in residence at Window’s to Sea on Martha’s Vineyard, offering private sessions, small group classes and weekend workshops with internationally known guest teachers.
